Bienvenidos
Bienvenidos estudiantes. Welcome students, to my website, where we will discuss random things about Spanish language and culture.
Our pictures are of Madrid. 6th Graders did a Power Point and Excel Spreadsheet describing a fictional trip to Madrid. The specifics are listed in the section 6th Tarea, along with my sample spreadsheet and Power Point journal. The pictures are all from Madrid. The Royal Palace in Madrid has over 2000 rooms. Spain has a King and Queen. What are their names? Also included is a picture of Retiro Park, a popular place for relaxation and a huge park in Madrid.
Seventh and Eighth Graders are using a textbook this year. It is "¿De Dónde Vienes?" from QTalk publishing. The primary purpose of this book is to encourage sentence formation. This particular book uses an approach similar to the popular and successful Rosetta Stone. Seventh Grade is on level one, Eighth Grade is on level two. Eighth Graders also created a wiki presentation of a famous Hispanic-American listing their biographical information, accomplishments and determining whether he or she is a hero.
I have presented at the Central States Conference for Teachers of Foreign Languages multiple times. This conference hosts Foreign Language teachers from fourteen states. I have also presented at the Ohio Foreign Language Association Annual Conference several times and at the Spring Methodology Conference at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I had also presented at the Foreign Language Conference at Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York. I have included a copy of the PowerPoint portion of my presentation to provide you insight of my teaching style.
In addition to having presented at multiple foreign language conferences, I am an active member of the American Association for Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). I am currently the President of the Ohio Chapter of AATSP. I am also actively involved with the Ohio Foreign Language Association (OFLA) where I served for four years as the editor of the Cardinal, OFLA's newsletter that is published three times a year. Prior to being named editor, I was a member of OFLA's editing team and a member of a special committee addressing needs of Early Language Learners (ELL Committee).
Las Secciones
Check out the stories. I posted our versions (in Spanish) of Harry Potter, Twilight and other popular stories.
Noticias is where I will put any news items. The Tarea Sections are where I put the projects that we will work on this year. Tarea means what in English?
Hispanos Famosos is where I put two biographies of famous Hispanic Americans.
This is my personal website and is not affiliated with my school or the Archdiocese. I have not included a blog in order to control the content presented here.
Cordialmente,
